We adopted Cleopatra, now Nani, which is hawaiian for "beautiful", on June 6th, so our other Stray Rescue baby, Kiki, would have a companion. As we expected, she was nervous & shy, she was also emaciated. We literally had to show her how to jump up on our bed so she could lay with Kiki. When we would walk into the room or someone would stop by our house she would run in her kennel and hide. And she was heart worm positive so we had to limit her activity. She also had terrible separation anxiety and followed us, especially Kiki, everywhere! She was rescued with her deceased buddy, so we are assuming that explains it. She recently finished her heart worm treatments and has become a different dog! She runs and jumps, "talks" to us constantly, reminds us precisely when it's "snack time", wags her tail when we walk into the room instead of running away, and she loves playing hide & seek! She has also put on some weight and filled out. But most of the time we find her on our bed with her sister, napping peacefully. She still hates being alone and follows all of us, but that may always be the case and that's okay. What happened to her certainly isn't her fault, so we just love her like crazy, tell her every day how beautiful and good she is and promise she will never be left alone again! This year, she has her very own personalized ornament to hang on the Christmas tree!
