When Stray Rescue found me I was all alone, starving and freezing in a garage with only a bag of trash to sleep on and well, let's just say I wasn't too trusting. Humans had let me down before, but darn if those hot dogs didn't smell good. I was so skinny I couldn't stay warm, and I was covered with sores and scars. They tried to put a ropey thing around my neck, and I was soooo scared of what they were gonna do to me. But then a nice lady put a warm blankie around me and murmured sweet nothings in my ear, and I decided to see where she would take me... I couldn't relax in the car. I had to keep my guard up, but I think I fell asleep sitting up.
I couldn't believe what came next. My own cozy apartment with lots of other canine friends. They were a noisy bunch at times, but I got yummy food and treats and different folks came to take me on walks and for play time. I made a lot of new human friends. I was quite popular!
After about a month, one day they took me outside to meet Freide, a Stray Rescue alum and we really hit it off! I tried the playbow to get her in the mood, but she let me know as an elder dog that wasn't her thing. Next, I met my future Mom, and off we went in her car where I was supposed to be a foster dog. But I did everything in my power to make sure this was my last move! I only ran away my first day cuz I was kinda scared of everything... the leash, the car, going outside, the kitties, but Mom lured me back with smelly yet delicious cat food! Now, I would never leave her side!
Ahhhhhhhh, this is where I belong. Foster Mom succumbed to my charms, and now she is just Mom and Freide is my sister. I am loving my new life at my forever home! I am popular in the neighborhood too. Nice boys from down the street come by and walk us most days. I love car rides! Mom takes us on hikes in parks, and I even got to go camping at Johnsons Shut-Ins. I love romping in my big back yard and snuggling with Mom. She keeps telling me I'm too big to be a lap dog (I'm a lean 60 lbs), but somehow I manage to squeeze onto her lap. I feel like I won the Lottery!
