Gershwin is a very sweet boy who took a little bit to let his true personality shine, but he was definitely worth the wait. Gershwin is about 5 years old, does well with kids and other dogs his size (he does not like small animals, especially little dogs). He has been through beginner and intermediate training at Stray Rescue and attended doggie day care on the big dog side. He currently lives with two female doggies who like to boss him around. He also has a five year old human brother that he adores. He will follow him just to see if he can sneak in a quick cuddle session and waits for him outside his door each morning. He walks great on a leash, is crate trained but can be trusted left out alone during the day while we are at work, is potty trained, he knows sit, stay, park it, shake, and wait. He typically sleeps in his crate at night with the door open, but would love nothing more if he got to share a bed with a human. He loves his Nylabones and peanut butter stuffed Kongs or marrow bones and will keep himself entertained if needed. He loves to lay in the sun on a nice day with his foster doggie sisters, but does need to be watched since he can jump our 4 foot fence. A forever home with a privacy fence would probably be best.
Gershwin is the perfect mix of couch potato and active as he loves going on his walks and will sit by the door until you feel so sorry for him you have no choice but to indulge him, we end up walking twice a day J. He likes to play ball and willingly gives it up if you have a treat (still working on it without a treat). But Gershwin thinks he is a lap dog and loves nothing more than to cuddle with his people as well. He loves being close and will snuggle up to you, if not on you.
PLEASE NOTE THAT GERSHWIN IS IN A FOSTER HOME, NOT AT OUR SHELTER.
