6 yearsJewel is the last of our Hurricane Katrina rescues. Although she was extremely scared and shy when she first came in, Jewel has made great strides. She is a happy and confident girl now. She is still a bit uncomfortable with meeting new people, but once she gets to know you she'll be your best friend for life. An experienced and confident dog person would be ideal adopter for Jewel. Outside in her yard she is a confident, muscular, beautiful display of happiness. Running, jumping and playing ball are her sources of joy until she crashes from contentment and naps under a tree. Extremely sweet and timid yet charismatically energetic, Jewel would do best in a home without children and as an only dog, but adores cats. She loves playing in the snow, something she never experienced in New Orleans. But even better is cuddle time on the bed. Jewel does prefer the lady humans to the gentleman humans but will do fine if given time to adjust to the boys. Jewel sits beautifully, ready to learn her next command. She also has a very cute trot when she's on a leash. It's hard to explain. You'll just have to see it for yourself. Update:Jewel would love a back yard to run around in, cats to keep her curious and squeaky toys to keep her busy. We're confident the love she receives will not compare to the love she'll give back. Please fill out one of our online applications to make arrangements to meet Jewel. You can check out Jewel on her MySpace page.
