Turkey

Hi, I’m Turkey.   Rumor has it I was rescued on Thanksgiving Day, and that’s how I got my name.  I’m a neutered male about 2 years old and up-to-date on my shots – at least that’s what they tell me.  I was living on the streets and then the shelter for quite a while, but a couple of weeks ago, I received my own Foster Mom (FM), and now I’m living in a home for the first time in my life!   Wow!   This is so nice, and I love to show my appreciation by cuddling and giving kisses. 

FM has been teaching me how to behave in a home, and I am working on my inside manners.  I’ve been learning to give eye contact and also Lay Down and Shake.  I already knew Sit and Stay.   Pretty smart, I know.

I enjoy having the run of the house when my people are home, and when they leave, I go into a crate and keep busy with my Kong and other toys or just relax.  FM says she’s so proud of me ‘cause I’ve never had an “accident” in the house.  Sheesh!   Does she think I was raised in a barn?  I learned to do my business outside a long time ago. 

I love to play with my foster dog sister, and we’ll explore the backyard together.  We like to occasionally play “catch me if you can”, and when we get going too fast, FM says “easy”, and I know it’s time to settle down a bit.  Tug-of-war and fetch are some other games I enjoy.  And FM is teaching me to “drop it” and “leave it”.  She’s more stubborn than I am, and eventually she wins out.  Running in the backyard is also a favorite activity of mine – I run as fast as I can from one side and back to the other, and then I’ll decide to just stop … when I do that, FM laughs and calls me some funny name – Tasmanian Devil.

The thing that makes me happiest, though, is curling up next to FM on the couch, or laying across her lap and feeling her pet me.   Belly rubs are my favorite.   I could just melt right into her.  There’s nothing more relaxing.

I’d really like to find my forever home with a person or family.  If you’re looking for a play or exercise buddy AND a cuddler/lap dog, then I’m the guy for you!  Just submit your application.  You won’t regret it!
