This handsome guy is Ty. His estimated birthday is November 18, 2002 and weighs between 50-60lbs. The streets were rough on this boy. When he came to Stray Rescue in November 2010, he was very shy, but with the help of the volunteers, he started realzing that people are not so bad after all! He left Stray Rescue’s Pine Street shelter on May 21, 2011 to go into a foster home until he’s adopted.
Ty was rescued off the streets with his buddy Beener by Randy with the help of two Blues players. Here’s a link to their story on Stray Rescue’s website (http://strayrescue.org/node/
Ty lives in a foster home with 2 other dogs and 2 cats. He enjoys sleeping, sun bathing, and playing with the other dogs from time to time. Ty loves quiet spots in the house to hang out and sleep, and the other dogs are always going to check on him, giving him kisses, and trying to get him to play with them. He doesn’t bother the cats, because he’s afraid of them. If the cats are in his way he stays put and barks or whimpers for his foster mom to rescue him from the “evil felines,” so he can go outside, get to his favorite spots to lay, or get a drink of water. Ty is scared of loud noises and thunder storms, but he deals with these by finding a place to hide out until the noises are gone.
Ty would do best in a quiet home with other dogs. If you have an active and somewhat noisy home, then he could adapt, but you’d need to make sure he has quiet areas to go and feel comfortable. He is cat-friendly since he won’t go near cats, and runs the other way if they approach him. Ty has met kids at adoption events, and lets them pet him, but the kids are always told to approach him slowly so they don’t scare him.
If you would like to meet Ty, just fill out an adoption application and his foster mom will be in touch. You can also schedule a TAP (Trial Adoption Period) to make sure Ty is the right addition to your family. You won’t be disappointed – he’s a very laid-back dog that is easy to care for.
**PLEASE NOTE THAT TY IS IN A FOSTER HOME AND NOT AT OUR SHELTER.
**PLEASE MAKE SURE TO CHECK THE ADOPTION STATUS BEFORE APPLYING TO MAKE SURE THERE ISN'T ALREADY AN ADOPTION PENDING.
