Vino and Pups, Saved
Unfortunately, lately it seems that many of the dogs we do see are pregnant or obviously nursing puppies. It’s that time of the year. So when I spotted the dog sitting in the grass and stopped to feed her it didn’t surprise me that she was full of milk. So I followed her to look for her puppies. She made it easy to find her pups by barking when I got close. There were just three puppies. They looked to be just one to two weeks old.
But before we took the pups we had to make sure we got mom. She really made this pretty easy too by crawling under a van. So with just a slip leash and some hotdogs to coax her out she crawled out from under the van and let me put her in the car. I gathered the pups and put them in with mom. It was an easy rescue, but no matter how easy or hard it is, it’s always a good feeling to save a dog from living on the street. Donna
Special thanks to Barb Strum who always helps with fostering moms and their pups!
