| While doing a story for the local PBS station about how bad the stray problem is in St. Louis, I ran across this poor soul. With a film crew in tow I knew I wouldn't be able to rescue him although I tried. He is one of those strays that wanted help but was too afraid to trust. He would eat the food I would give him but if I got too close his wary body would try to run off a few feet, stop, turn around and look at me as if saying - I want your help but I am afraid. I could see the mange, his thin body, sore painful limbs and cuts. I could see him look into my eyes trying to say something.
The next day I went back with Darrell and a trap. With no crowds I knew it would be pretty easy. We baited the trap and within 5 minutes he went in. Now safe at Chippewa Animal Hospital, he is recovering from many ailments but he is so appreciative and loving. His bad days are behind him and he knows it. This is what Stray Rescue is all about.
