Violence toward dogs comes in many forms and probably one of the most heart wrenching is when I pick up a dog that was used for fighting. The horrific outward scars singes permanently into my consciousness, and the emotional toll that these poor souls endure just breaks my heart.
I’ve read that in recent decades, dogfighting has become informal street corner and playground activities. Many people who participate in these fights lack even a semblance of respect for the animals, often starving and beating them to encourage aggressive behavior. I’ve seen this first hand all too often. It has to stop.
What makes Stray Rescue so special is how “in the trenches” and proactive we are. We have an amazing team of folks from staff to volunteers who have become the experts at healing the emotional scars through patience and pure love. Our success in reintroducing these amazing survivors back into the human pack is nothing short of remarkable.
Check out my dear friend Normm - http://strayrescue.org/NormmToday who was a victim of a fighting ring. See his inspiring transformation from near death to a home filled with nothing but pure joy and love. Normm’s abuser was arrested and charged, thanks to our Animal Abuse Task Force.
With our $100,000 Stop Animal Abuse matching grant, we can save the “Normms.” We can do it together and stop this horrifying “sport.” Give today- http://strayrescue.org/matchinggrant
